Using Google+ or Twitter, users wanting to be one of the first with Glass were to explain in 50 words or less what they would do with the technology and entered by using the hashtag #ifihadglass and following @projectglass. If chosen, users have to buy the explorer pack for 1500$ and attend an informational session in New York, San Francisco, or LA. May we just say, what a beautiful use of social media! Especially with trying to revitalize the old Google+ there!

If you haven’t checked out all that Glass has to offer yet, you should! It’s a handsfree device that allows you to take pictures, videos, and share what you see with friends. It also has the ability to give you directions and pull information from the web, allowing you to see it right there in your glasses. All you have to do is ask Glass to do what you need it to do.

So, what would you do with Glass? Mace + Carmichael would definitely have some fun with it-

“I would take endless pictures and videos of Myla.” -Amy

“I would cook and share healthy recipes with my family.” -Amanda

“I would conquer the world, 4 years sooner than expected.” -Ashley

Depending on the type of company you are helps determine which social media platform you use. If you are a B2B company, Facebook may not be the platform of choice. Consider LinkedIn. If you are a restaurant, a location based platform may offer you the best options. And there are many other options out there. I know, it can be overwhelming. But that’s why we’re here…

Does someone need to own social media?

How does it work in your company? Is social media OWNED by a specific person or department? There are many ways social media could be managed, but should it be owned? Or if it’s owned, maybe it’s owned by everyone. Communications, HR, sales, customer service…it takes all these departments to run a company, what’s the difference in running social media? It could get complicated, but that’s why you may work with someone who can help wrangle everyone together…

Stats for Fortune 100 companies

We’ve been researching social media for a client and we came across these interesting statistics. They’re a little over a year old but are still relevant and interesting. At least 79 percent of Fortune 100 companies are using at least one of the most popular social media platforms. That’s a lot considering it seems that the bigger the company the bigger the fear. We’re going to see if we can find an update on these numbers. A lot can happen in a year!
